About the Role
FullStack Academy is looking for a contract curriculum developer and SME to work with our Web Development bootcamp team. In order to deliver our bootcamp programs at scale, we develop standardized curriculum, which include instructor lesson plans and student activities. Our curriculum is technical and uses pair-programming and active learning strategies.
We are looking for technically-minded candidates with a strong love of writing and storytelling to modify our current content, which is aimed at students looking to move into the Web Development space. We value candidates who can learn new technologies quickly and then translate it into content for beginner level students.
This is a contract role. Below are the topic areas for which we are looking to modify:
- JavaScript Fundamentals
- Vanilla DOM
- React
- Servers and Databases
- State Management
- Algorithms and Data Structures
- Authentication
Responsibilities:
- Review current curriculum and audit for opportunities to improve existing student experience.
- Work to develop a framework of learning objectives and assessments to reveal student understanding and comprehension.
- Architect and scope curriculum topics and individual lesson plans.
- Write and review thorough lesson plans and slide decks that instructors will use during class sessions
- Create student facing activities and projects that complement lesson plans and allow students to practice what they have learned
- Having a commitment to universal design principles and accessibility for all users
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of Web Development or Software Engineering experience.
- Familiarity with VS Code and our tech stack:
- JavaScript
- HTML
- CSS
- Node
- Express
- Sequelize
- PostgreSQL
- React
- Redux
- Mocha (or similar testing frameworks)
- Git & GitHub
- Demonstrated writing ability. You will be required to submit a writing sample, using a provided framework, that demonstrates your ability to teach concepts to beginner-level learners
- Ability and comfort to research and learn new skills and technologies.
- A self-starter who can take ownership over their work and successfully implement feedback when provided
- Instructional design and curriculum writing experience is not required, but a strong plus
